Clothes Dryer Boosting
When is a dryer booster fan needed?
Historically, clothes dryers have been located along exterior walls of a dwelling, allowing for short duct runs and low static pressure. As design trends have changed and popularity of mixed-use buildings has increased, dryers have been relocated to more central locations. This shift creates long, complex duct runs, increasing drying time, decreasing efficiency, and most importantly creating a potential safety hazard.
Clothes Dryer Boosting Solved!
International Mechanical Code (IMC), Section 504 states that clothes dryers are designed to perform where the duct length is no more than 35 feet long. In order to extend duct runs over 35 feet, a clothes dryer booster fan must be installed.
